This Is Not a Government or Law Enforcement Office. Maryland Warrant Records has no authority to search agency systems, verify a current warrant, change a docket, take bond, schedule an appearance, or advise on a case. Contact the court that issued the warrant for case status and court procedure. Ask its clerk which sheriff or other agency has the service assignment.
Need Official Warrant Information?
Choose the Maryland office based on the question and the type of record involved:
- Finding a public case: use the Maryland Judiciary Case Search & Record Portal to identify a docket and filing court. A result, or the lack of one, does not confirm current warrant status.
- A missed District Court date: contact the District Court clerk for the venue printed on the citation or case record. Maryland has no separate municipal criminal or JP court tier. Find local routes in the county and city directory.
- Arrest-warrant or Circuit Court records: contact the District or Circuit Court clerk that holds the case. Certain unserved arrest-warrant records are restricted, and a public search may not show the document.
- Service, surrender, or a confirmed warrant: ask the issuing clerk which sheriff or other law-enforcement agency is assigned. The Maryland jurisdiction directory links to each local court and sheriff route.
- Agency records: request eligible records from the agency custodian under the Maryland Public Information Act. Court case records instead follow Maryland Rules Title 16 and the court's judicial-record process.
- Statewide systems: the documented Maryland State Warrant System query is for agency use, not a resident search. See the Maryland warrant database overview for the distinction.
The court clerk keeps the case record, while a sheriff or another assigned agency can hold execution information. These are separate roles. Start with the filing court, then follow its direction to the serving agency. The directory covers 23 counties and Baltimore City; local search tools, request procedures, and service contacts differ by jurisdiction.
